LTP Antique Wax | Why Should You Wax Your Surface?

Ever wondered why you should wax your floor? That's why we are here with LTP Antique Wax to give you the necessary information that you need!

When researching you can be hit with very conflicting information at first, so we recommend reading our blog on LTP Clear Wax also.

WHY YOU SHOULD WAX YOUR FLOOR

Unfortunately, not all surfaces will accept polish. Some of them require oil maintenance.

Others, such as wood floors, linoleum, tiles or even unfinished cork flooring can even benefit from a good polish.

A key benefit to waxing your floors is sustainability.

Wax has always been good protection for floors due to its prevention of scratches, nicks and stains caused by any spills.

It preserves your floor surfaces, which is best for high-traffic areas due to the increase in the surface's durability.

Another advantage is that it adds light to a room.

A beautiful waxed floor not only enhances the rooms and spaces but also gives them a lighter feel.

Waxing the surface will also make any defects if any, less obvious.

Not everything can be controlled. Accidents will happen, floors will eventually get dents and marks that won't be entirely removed.

In this case, good floor waxing will help make these defects less noticeable.

Another benefit is the security it provides. Despite anything, a fall can be costly for anyone in some form.

In short, floor wax will provide enough grip on the floor to allow people to walk without slipping, including when the floor is wet.

To conclude, a layer of wax will give your surface more beauty and it brings brightness out of the room.

It will give the entire room a clean look and give it that bit of sparkle that you thought you were missing, all while having excellent gripping characteristics.

LTP ANTIQUE WAX

LTP Antique Wax is a soft paste wax, blended from three types of wax that give treated surfaces an excellent shine.

It is a medium brown wall and floor tile polish that provides a resilient protective layer against water, dust, dirt and a variety of commonly found household contaminants.

LTP Antique Wax comes ready to use and is easily applied by cloth before polishing to a finish.

Suitable for use on travertine, limestone, sandstone, slate, tumbled marble, flamed and rough cut granite, terracotta, quarry and brick.

It provides an aged appearance and is maintained with LTP Waxwash on floors and LTP Stonewash on walls.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF LTP ANTIQUE WAX

Firstly, ensure the surface is complete, clean and dried with also any pre-polish sealer thoroughly cured.

Stir well before application.

Apply LTP Antique Wax sparingly with a soft fluff-free cloth ensuring that the area of application is manageable.

Then immediately begin to buff the wax to a shine using a short-haired brush, soft cloth or mechanical polisher.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On higher absorbency floors, the wax may be absorbed into the surface unevenly.

Therefore, when treating such floors, it may be necessary to reduce the absorbency by pre-applying a suitable impregnating sealer.

LTP Antique Wax can be applied to surfaces that have been impregnated with LTP Boiled Linseed Oil, Stone Oil, Mattstone and Colour Intensifier.

The type of impregnator used will depend on the type of material that is being sealed.

COVERAGE

On most floors, LTP Antique Wax can cover up to 10 squared metres, coating the surface twice, with 1-litre of a can!

AFTERCARE

To maintain the surface to its full potential, the surface will need to be washed with LTP Waxwash.

Ensure that areas, where the seal has been worn or damaged, are re-waxed.

In which case, apply a fresh coat of LTP Antique Wax to the surface should it begin to show signs of stain absorption.

This should be done after the surface has been washed and allowed to thoroughly dry.

WHAT TO AVOID

LTP Antique Wax may not properly harden if too much polish is applied or if applied to surfaces containing moisture.

In either case, it may be difficult to obtain a shine.

It will not polish properly if used on partially cured sealers or if the floor has not been properly pre-sealed.

This product may be less ably applied in cold weather, in which case it may help to warm the can in tepid water.
