Terracotta
About Terracotta
Terracotta floors are made from natural clay that is shaped and then fired in a kiln. Terracotta tiles have a warm, rustic appearance often found in earthy tones, ranging from deep reds and oranges to lighter yellows and browns.
Many terracotta tiles are handmade so they can be seen slight variations of size, shape, and color.
Sealing Terracotta Tiles
Terracotta is porous, which means it can absorb water and stains if not properly sealed.
The best terracotta tile sealer is LTP Boiled Linseed Pre-Polishing Impregnating Sealer. It is ideal for the protection and enhancing of hand-made or machine made terracotta tiles. It files in the pores found in this material, preventing grime and unwanted liquids getting into the terracotta.
Cleaning Terracotta Tiles
Dirt and stains can build up very quickly on terracotta surfaces.
We suggest using SRP X-Treme Heavy Duty Tile Cleaner to remove organic residues such as oil, fats and grease. In most cases, you'll need to dilute this deep cleaning solution on a case by case basis. Once diluted, apply SRP X-Treme and wait for it to act for up 10 mintues. Then, scrub surfaces clean by applying this deep cleaner with the SYR Deck Brush.
