How to Polish Granite Countertops & Flooring

how to polish granite countertops and flooring dullness shine

Today, I will share our step-by-step guide to polishing granite countertops and flooring. Polishing granite can be a tricky job, but using our guide and the products we suggest makes the whole thing a lot easier.

Why is it important to polish granite?

Granite can be the highlight of any room or location it is present, but eventually will lose its original appearance and shine.

Polishing granite reverses these effects and prevents them from occurring again. Polish granite to enhance the aesthetic and return a once rich sheen.

Doing this also protects the surface from dulling, streaks and stains.

Polishing granite surfaces goes beyond aesthetics. A high-quality granite polish will help reinforce the protective seal on the stone’s surface, will enhance the natural colour and shine of your stone, and help resist fingerprints, water spots and soap scum build-up. And, if polishing becomes a regular part of your routine, especially on dark-stone surfaces, little things like fingerprints and streaks won’t form as easily.

Before Polishing Granite - The Right Equipment

You’ll need a single disc machine set to 150-200 rpm to polish granite flooring. Alternatively, use a hand polisher of your choosing.

Equip these polishing machines with a white polishing pad

Most importantly, use Faber Star Shine Easy to polish granite counters and floors to achieve your desired shine and resistance.

Faber Star Shine Easy is a water-based polishing cream that makes polishing granite surfaces simple. Granite can otherwise be difficult to polish and maintain.

This polishing cream enhances brightness and restores the original colour of the material. It provides resistance to staining and wear caused by foot traffic.

How to Polish Granite Countertops & Flooring

1. Apply Faber Star Shine Easy Faber Star Shine Easy Granite Polishing Cream for countertops and floors

Initially, Star Shine Easy is a solid white paste. Shake the container to bring it to a creamier consistency. Although, the consistency of the product will not affect its performance or capabilities.

During the polishing process, even a solid paste develops a creamy consistency.

Place 2-3 teaspoons of the polishing cream on the surface.

2. Buff the product

Buff Star Shine Easy using a 150-200 rpm single disc machine equipped with a white pad.

When working on granite countertops use a hand polisher.

Buff in circular motions to ensure the entire granite surface is evenly covered. We suggest working in sections, moving to the next after covering the last section.

Start with the innermost part of the section and broaden your movements over time.

3. Remove the dry residues

Get rid of the dry residues after polishing the entire granite area. Use a microfibre cloth, broom or vacuum cleaner.

Additional Granite Polishing - For Greater Shine and Protection

Faber TCB 12 Polishing Maintenance Cream

If you want to give your granite surfaces extra shine and sparkle, we suggest using Faber TCB 12

Faber TCB 12 is a polishing maintenance cream for granite flooring and countertops that reinforces the shine achieved by Star Shine Easy. It creates a glossy and high sheen without creating buffing defects or superficial residues.

Fortunately, the application process for this granite maintenance cream is very similar to the steps we have already described for Star Shine Easy.

Maintaining the shine on granite flooring and countertops

Apply around 2-3 spoonfuls of Faber TCB 12 to the surface. This is enough for a surface area of 1m2.

Pass over the area in manageable sections at a time with a single disc machine set at 150-200 rpm with a white pad.

Start from the centre of each section and gradually work outwards. Continue this until the polishing cream in that section has completely dried.

For the maximum dirt resistance and shine, complete this process 1-2 times.

Start Polishing Your Granite Surfaces

With this guide in mind, it's time for you to start polishing your own granite surfaces. Enhance the appearance of and offer protection to your floors and countertops.

Why use Faber Star Shine  Easy to polish granite tiles?

1. High-performance polishing action leaves surfaces with a terrific shine

Above all else, Faber Star Shine Easy remains a remarkable floor polisher due to the illuminant, vitreous shine surfaces are left with.

Even its closest competitors on the market pale in comparison to the results Star Shine Easy can achieve on granite, porcelain and quartz surfaces.

This polishing cream effortlessly restores the full tone of these natural materials once they have dulled.

Furthermore, the use of this granite polishing cream achieves results that not even mechanical polishing can. The results are elevated to a level that wouldn’t be possible without Faber Star Shine Easy.

As a result, this granite polishing cream is not only the ideal choice but also the only choice for high-performance polishing action and brilliantly polished granite tiles.

After being evenly applied to the whole surface, Stain Shine Easy doesn’t cause differences or defects due to overlapping.

2. Sealing action provides robust protection to prevent future damage

Nevertheless, Faber Star Shine Easy achieves more than just polished floor tiles. It also excels in sealing surfaces. Star Shine Easy completely seals and closes pores present on materials.

The granite polishing cream further exceeds the mechanical polishing process by preventing the opening of pores on the surface. Typically, this is the primary cause of dirt build-up on quartz, granite and porcelain.

By sealing these surfaces, Faber Star Shine Easy prevents small dirt and debris particles from building up on or in these surfaces and damaging them from within. This will make routine floor cleaning much quicker in the future.

Star Shine Easy protects surfaces from water damage as any stone sealer should.

After being sealed, polished granite flooring resist high foot traffic on top of dirt and water damage.

Moreover, this polishing cream also increases non-slip resistance on dry floor conditions.

3. Long-lasting results for protection against constant use

The amazing polishing and sealing action of this granite polishing cream amounts to nothing if the results don’t last. Fortunately, the protection Faber Star Shine Easy provides for polished floor tiles is also long-lasting.

The results of this polishing cream are very durable. Surfaces will withstand continuous use and intense foot traffic without losing their immaculate shine.

Whether it’s against dirt, constant use or water, the effects of this floor polisher will continue to protect surfaces.

4. Achieve a greater shine in less and with less effort

The effectiveness of this floor polisher ensures the floor polishing process is as simple as can be.

The use of Faber Star Shine Easy completely bypasses the need for mechanical polishing.

Many time-consuming steps in the mechanical polishing process are entirely avoided when using Star Shine Easy. By avoiding steps in the process, it becomes simpler and a dramatic amount of time is saved.

What is more, by avoiding mechanical polishing, less water is needed for the floor polishing process.

With this floor polisher, polishing siliceous surfaces requires both less resources and energy.

5. Faber's unique formula ensures one-of-a-kind results

Faber Star Shine Easy is water-based polishing cream. In order to maximise its effectiveness, Faber crafted Star Shine with a distinct formula like all of its products.

This granite polishing cream contains wax, but when polishing quartz, porcelain and granite, it acts directly on the surface from a chemical and mechanical viewpoint.
