LTP Glaze Protector | Protecting Glazed Tiles

Are you still wondering how to best protect your unpolished tiles? LTP Glaze Protector is the answer.

In this blog, we will go through why we recommend protecting your tiles and how it can solve all of your issues.

WHY YOU SHOULD PROTECT GLAZED TILES

Glazed ceramic tiles are very common in both residential and commercial buildings.

The glazed tiles are all stain, scratch, fire and slip resistant, making them ideal for use in wetrooms.

They are easy to clean and will not fade from direct sunlight exposure.

What makes glazed ceramic tiles so special is the fact that they have a layer of glass that protects the ‘tile biscuit’.

Glaze can be finished in matt, gloss and textured.

The top layer also protects the tile by making it impenetrable. Therefore, there is no need to apply sealant on glazed tiles.

However, you shouldn’t neglect the grout that goes in between the tiles.

Grout is very porous and should be treated with a sealant in order to resist any water or moisture.

LTP GLAZE PROTECTOR

LTP Glaze Protector is a low-maintenance, film-forming sealer for glazed ceramic and porcelain, unpolished porcelain and vitrified quarry tiles.

This self-shining sealer strongly protects and embellishes the surface.

LTP Glaze Protector is highly resistant to wear and stains, whilst also facilitating easy maintenance and cleaning.

This sealer is for interior use only and not for wet rooms or shower enclosures.

LTP Glaze Protector retains the ‘just washed’ look on glazed ceramic, porcelain, unpolished porcelain and vitrified quarry tiles.

Easily maintained with LTP Floorshine.

HOW TO USE LTP GLAZE PROTECTOR

PRE-TREATMENT

Make sure that the surface to be treated is completely clean and dry, especially when dealing with newly installed surfaces.

If the surface has cement and grout stains, use LTP Grout Stain Remover.

However, with existing surfaces, first clean and degrease surfaces with LTP Grimex and rinse well.

Leave to dry out thoroughly, roughly twenty-four hours.

If any retained moisture in the grout joints may cause the LTP Glaze Protector to dry opaque or prevent the seal from reaching full hardness.

LTP GLAZE PROTECTOR APPLICATION

Firstly, apply LTP Glaze Protector using a J cloth or sealant applicator pad.

Then, pour contents into a separate container.

Dip a clean cloth into LTP Glaze Protector, wring out and apply evenly to the surface without rubbing.

Be sure to distribute evenly, creating a thin film, roughly about three times.

Allow drying time for around one hour.

If a glossier finish is intended, further coats should be applied at right angles to the first and no more than 6 coats.

AFTERCARE

Routinely sweep the floor.

Use LTP Floorshine to clean and protect treated surfaces.

In areas where the seal becomes worn, apply more LTP Glaze Protector.

At some stage, a complete renovation of the seal may be desired.

In this case, use LTP Grimex to strip the original seal before re-sealing.

Avoid using strong detergents to wash surfaces treated with LTP Glaze Protector.

WHAT TO AVOID

Do not over apply as too many coats may cause unsightly build-up and/or reduce the efficiency of the product.

Hardens after about an hour but will take a further three days to achieve the full hardness and become fully water-resistant.

Always test first to establish the correct method of application and the optimum number of coats before general use.

Avoid extremes of temperature.

Do not apply to rubber floors.
