WHY IS TILE GROUT CLEANING IMPORTANT?

Believe it or not, tile & grout cleaning is of the highest importance. Not only for the appearance of your surface but to also help maintain it structurally, therefore increasing the longevity of the tile. What is grout? Grout is essentially the glue that holds tile together. It is made of cement, sand and water. It can also have pigment added to it which will give it a colour to match the tiles. Unfortunately, grout stains pretty easily, and trying to rub it too hard to clean it can actually wear it away. If grout wears away too much from incorrectly cleaning the surface, water can creep behind and compromise the tile. First of all, this product will need to be diluted due to the severity of the surface. In mild cases and or on absorbent tiles: Dilute to a ratio of (Solution: Water) 1:4 with cold water. Then you can begin to apply with a cloth or sponge wrung out in the solution. Once applied, wipe off thoroughly with a clean damp cloth. IMPORTANT NOTE: Always rinse surfaces thoroughly with clean cold water. In more severe cases: Dilute to a ratio of 1:1 with cold water. Soon after, apply liberally and spread over the desired surface. It may be necessary to slowly agitate with a nylon scrubber and leave it to react for five minutes, whilst keeping wet with additional solution. Mop up and rinse thoroughly with clean cold water. In extremely severe cases: Use undiluted and agitate with a nylon scrubber or mechanical scrubber if necessary. However, make sure to neutralise the treated surface with clean cold water after use.

Faber 30 Application Method

Dilute down to a ratio of between 1:1 and 1:4, or undiluted in extreme cases.

1. Apply Faber 30 to the surface

Firstly, apply a coat evenly with a single-disc machine or large brush, ensuring the entire area is covered.

2. Leave the product to act for 10 - 15 minutes

If you'd like to speed up the process, you can agitate and assist with the dissolving action by repeatedly passing over with the single-disc machine or large bristled broom or brush. In cases where Faber 30 is being used on absorbent surfaces, you may be required to pour more of the product onto the surface as this offsets any solution absorbed so far. In order to achieve the best results, a fine layer of this alkaline cleaner should completely cover the surface during the treatment For this part of the treatment, you can use a more or less abrasive disc or bush based on the type of surface being treated and substances or dirt being removed.

3. Remove the excess and residue

Pour and spread a generous amount of clean water onto the surface to form a of a watery emulsion with the solution. Again, work away and spread the emulsion with the single-disc machine or large brush and then get rid of any excess. Preferably, do this with a liquid vacuum cleaner, but a cloth, material rags or a lot of paper towels will be perfectly fine in smaller areas. Finally, thoroughly rinse the surface with clean water, and step back to admire your lovely clean, restored tiles, walls, counter surface, garden patio, garage or flooring areas.
