LTP Stone Oil | Why Should You Use An Oil-Based Sealer?
I have covered many, many sealers already…but LTP Stone Oil is something else.
In this blog, I am going to explain to you why you should be using an oil-based sealer and when to use it.
WHY LTP STONE OIL
There are a lot...and I mean a lot of options for sealer, with most I have already covered, but today we are going to keep it simple and focus on oil-based sealers.
More specifically LTP Stone Oil.
LTP Stone Oil offers great protection and more than your typical water-based sealer.
It is formulated to have a thicker coat, therefore requiring far fewer coats than most.
It uniquely gives wood a deeper and richer colour and usually is cheaper than a water-based sealer, which is always a bonus.
However, it does carry a strong smell and will cause given surfaces to yellow over time. This is why we advise speaking to a professional to further understand.
THE IMPORTANCE OF LTP STONE OIL
LTP Stone Oil is an oil-based, pre-polished, impregnating sealer that aids the enhancement of black limestone.
This impregnating sealer has been specially formulated for easy application and a strong enhancement to the appearance of the surface.
LTP Stone Oil is suitable for porous stones, low-porosity slate, stone and terracotta.
Also ideal for surfaces such as travertine, limestone, sandstone, slate, marble, porcelain, granite, terracotta, quarry tiles, brick and external paving. Both for interior and exterior use.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Shake well before use.
Firstly, make sure the surfaces are completely clean and dry.
Then apply LTP Stone Oil sparingly using a soft cloth, paintbrush or sealant applicator pad to the surface.
Within 1 hour remove any unabsorbed excess. Although, porous surfaces may require more than one application.
Leave to cure for a minimum of 24 hours before allowing any traffic.
LTP Stone Oil, for lower porosity floors, can cover a surface from 10 square metres, with just a 1-litre bottle!
However, for higher porosity floors, a 1-litre bottle can only cover 5 square metres.
Do not allow surfaces to get wet and keep dry for a minimum of 3 days.
For the best results, internal surfaces will need to be finished with LTP Colour Intensifier, LTP Clear Wax, LTP Antique Wax, LTP Ironwax Satin or LTP Ironwax Gloss.
However, for external surfaces no further treatment is necessary.
WHAT TO AVOID
Avoid working in direct sunlight; rapid oxidization may inhibit effectiveness.
Used cloths should be burnt as they may spontaneously combust.
Allow good ventilation during application.
Any excess sealer that is left to dry on the surface can be removed with white spirit.
