How to remove rust stains from limestone patio?

1. Completely clean and dry surfaces 

Before using Faber Mar Gel Plus, completely clean the patio. Remove any dirt, dust and debris. 

2. Apply Faber Mar Gel Plus

Pour a generous amount of this undiluted solution onto the surface. Use the brush or spatula to to ensure the surface is completely covered in a thick layer of Mar Gel Plus. 

Mar Gel Plus creates a purple compound during the rust stain removal process. 

3. Wait for the Mar Gel Plus to act

Allow time for the product to act and the rust stain removal process to finish. The time needed depends on the intensity of the stain, the depth and stubbornness. 

Coloured Stain Removal Time:
- Recent and pale rust stains: 5 - 20 minutes 
- Deeper, medium-toned rust stains: 30 minutes - 3 hours
- Deep, dark rust stains: 4 hours - 10 hours

4. Remove any residue 

Afterwards, remove any remaining solution and residue with a clean cloth. 

5. Apply Faber Oxidant

After ensuring all residue is gone, the next step in the rust stain removal process is to apply a liberal amount of undiluted Faber Oxidant. Use the brush or spatula to entirely cover the surface in Oxidant. 

6. Wait for Oxidant to act

Leave the solution to act. Depending on the characteristics of the stain, the rust stain removal will take between 1 and 24 hours. 

Rust Stain Removal Time:
- Stubborn Coloured Stains: 1 - 6 hours
- Stubborn Stains: 1 - 6 hours
- Yellowing or damp stains and marks: 8 - 24 hours

7. Get rid of any residue

Using a clean cloth and clean water, remove any wet or dry residue. 

8. Repeat if necessary 

Repeat this process for persistent stains.
